I tried noled. Although it serves its purpose it drains the battery big time. Another one to try is missed message flasher. Not as much of a drain on the battery. Samsung really needs to figure out an update to give us some kind of notification light.

It does? I guess I don't know what it is, I missed a lot of voicemails before I got voice mail notifier. What is the voicemail alert that the phone already has?

As to a voicemail alert when the screen is off, sorry OP, no help there. All I can say is I tried noled and did not like it.

I don't think Samsung should've removed a notification light. That and having a physical keyboard are the two things I miss having

Yes it does, I also have a ringtone to notify me when I get a voicemail. The icon is an envelope with a tiny cassette tape looking thing in the lower right hand part of the envelope. It appears on the left side of the notification bar, when you pull down the notifications tab, it tells you how many voicemails you have along with missed calls etc.

I have the droid 1 and I have noticed that the LED light blinks red and green for a long time. Does anyone know what this means?

I don't miss the physical kb at all! In fact, when I first started looking at smartphones I asked which ones had a physical keyboard. The guy said something like "if you're getting it for texting, look at mine"
He then pulled a phone out of his pocket and pulled the kb out, it was all dusty. He used swype onscreen.

I'm now a swype junkie! Never will go back to tap, tap, tapping...

Red usually means the battery is dying, unless you changed the color of the LED for another notification. The LED usually blinks til you clear the notification.

You may get more information if you post your question in the Original Droid or Incredible forum. You stated the OG Droid but your info states that you have the Incredible.

Me too. I use to think I needed a physical keyboard but after using swype, I will never go back to physical keyboard.

    Lightbulb Solution

Battery LED Indicator works for me on my Droid RAZR. Although I would prefer the LED beeing constant on during charging instead of a blinking one. The apps seems to be out of development, though I have no hope for a future update. I can not tell you about battery life yet either.
If anyone has a better suggestion please feel free to comment.

This is funny, I thought the same thing. I never used the physical kb. I use flex t9 kb now though, like it so much better than swype. It is kind of the same as swype just works better to me.
