Droid Charge using USB connection to my car

I have a Droid Charge and my car has a USB port into the stereo. I have the MOG app (streaming music) and I want to play music from it in my car. When I plug in the USB the phone asks me if I want it to act as a media player or mass storage device. I choose Media Player. The car stereo will not recognize the phone. When I tell it to look at the USB port it sees no device connected (although the phone is charging). In the scheme of things this is a small issue, but I think it should work. Any ideas?

Buy an aux cable. 3.5mm male to male.

I have a stereo with usb as well but haven't tried it with the charge yet.

Have you tried playing music with the regular music player while in media player mode?

I have not tried the regular music player because I use MOG for all of my music. I have not downloaded any music to the phone. It looks like an aux cable will have to be the solution.

I had an extra 16 GB micro SD laying around, so I loaded it up with much of my music library. I was careful to create folders on the root drive for each individual artist, and subfolders for each album. Then placed it in a micro SD USB adapter. Works perfect in my wife's GMC Acadia. Any thumb drive will do this also. Just a thought for ya.

Even my aftermarket Sony doesn't recognize Android devices. They mainly are compatible with iPod, Iphone and thumb drives. In time these manufacturers will have to recognize Android, but they don't yet. I use the Bluetooth connection on my Sony and it works flawlessly.

Mine works in my Chevy Equinox. You have to select mass storage on the phone though. That way the car can see the SD card.

When you select Mass Storage you are telling the device to play all music stored on your SD card. Since you are using a streaming music app you have to use a 3.5mm audio jack instead as none of the music is actually on your SD card.
