i called vzw yesterday about the 4g hotspot pricing, they told me it was tiered, as on the website. i called today to try again, and i have unlimited mobile hot spot for $30 a month
im happier than 2 pigs in...... well u know lol

My husband and I both have always had the unlimited data plan since we went with the first Droid X then downgraded to LG Env 3 then got the Iphone in Feb, last week we just got the Droid Charge and we still get the 30 dollar unlimited plan thank goodness cause I use data a lot at work since we have nothing to do for 4 to 5 hours a night.

i have had it also for the phone data, i never used the hotspot before it was free, that is not the same as phone data as im sure you know.
anyone not grandfathered in gets royally screwed in my opinion

When was the hotspot free? I'm grandfathered in for unlimited data, but would like to also use the hotspot feature. I came from Windows Mobile 6.5 using WMWifiRouter for great tethering and hotspot usage. I heard free tethering and free hotspot requires root. Is this true?

Mobile hot spot was free up until like july 1st i think.. And yes if you want free hotspot you will have to root your phone unfortunately
