Upgrade from OG Droid to Charge

So I pulled the trigger and upgraded from my D1 to the Charge. So far I am liking the speed (processor and 4G) and the screen. The bloatware is ridiculous on this thing though.

So while I am in my 14 day return policy, has anyone found any kind of issues that I should take into consideration?

My gripes are few...But here they are.

Let's say you're lying down, holding the phone up to surf the web.
I've found that the phone acts weird at times, the screen locks up
but only when holding the phone like that.

Touch wiz, nuff said.
Other Launchers fix this, but the brown is really weird to me.

The mobile hotspot does not work unless you:
-set the date back a month
-install the software update for this issue (which will make rooting a PITA)
to impossible...


Other than that, I'm sold.
My phone lasted the entire day, with much usage, a
few calls that lasted 3hours....


I don't miss the O.G. Droid at all.

The screen tilt thing is driving me nuts. The screen doesn't react when i touch it while it's laying flat.
I want to like this phone coming from my og.

root for the EE4 update was out within a few days of the initial release of the update, and its no more of a "pita" than it was before.
flash a custom rooted kernel, takes no more than 10 minutes.

Oh Ok. I thought I had read a sticky instructing people NOT to root
with a the ED2 software update, but the one I've received (but not installed) was the EE4 one you touched on in the other thread...

I'm somewhat lost.

honestly i dont know, i got this phone 4-6wks ago. EE4 is the latest update, that fixed the hot-spot issue. on xda i have seen root for ED1 + ED2 but i got my phone a couple weeks before the EE4 and i was in the first group to get it. i had so many issues with mods on my d2g i was hesitant at first to mod this phone so i didnt root/mod untill right after EE4.
the history is pretty much a moot issue, EE4 is current and root/cwm, thats how i see it anyways...

You know what? I goofed.
I was on Android Central about an hour before I got the charge
(6/27) a day before the $179.99 price at Costco was going to end...and
I had read this sticky about the ED2 update and somehow got the idea it
came from this forum and that you couldn't root the phone with ED2, which is wrong and then 2, doesn't matter because root can be obtained from all software versions, so my apologies, I think I got royally confused.

If you do decide to root your Droid Charge, just remember that it will void your warranty and insurance. For me personally, I would risk doing it. For others, that may be another story.

I don't have that issue at all with my Charge; in fact, I just tested it now. I'm running stock with the EE4 update.
