If I was you I would hold on to your droid x till bionic comes out. Unless you have a definitive reason why you need 4G now, I suggest getting neither 4G phones on the market.. ESPECIALLY the bug ridden, battery depleting Thunderbolt.

Rooting primarily let's you hack it and flash custom roms, as well as take advantage of applications that modify your system directory for one reason or another (autostarts, root explorer, overclocking to name a few).
If you don't care about any of that, then don't root.
I care about rooting because I develop apps and sometimes I need to install a app to /system/xbin, and I hate blur so I install custom roms. The original droid had vanilla android which I got used to, so now I look for roms that mimic that look/feel for my d2.

I'm getting tired of chasing the Bionic's carrot on a stick. I've heard release dates anywhere from next month to christmas this year.

I'm not waiting until December to upgrade, I'll go insane.

Yea but what if its released next month and you just used ur upgrade on a charge? Lol. It depends if you want to future proof yourself phone wise, there is no other option but to wait for the beast to rise. Haha

That's my dilemma. I don't have multiple upgrades available like the OP.

Something concrete on the Bionic from Motorola or VZ would make my life, and I'm sure a lot of others lives' a bit easier.

It almost feels like they are keeping tabs on us, knowing that we are on the fence, and if they wait long enough, they will get a few more TB or Charge customers. THEN they will unveil "The Beast."

    I'm scared mommy.

I might have to change my recommendation. I said the Charge, but I forgot all about the file system thing, was reminded of it yesterday.

For the general public, it will be much easier to overcome the battery issues with the TBolt. For the Charge, the performance issues need rooting to even attempt to address the issues.

Its a hard decision for me to say which one to get now. 11 hours of rated talk time with the battery it ships with is still insane...

Make it easier and dont get either one...lol

I have both and am selling the TB. Love the screen, the battery life, and its weight. No more brick in my pocket.
