People actually prefer physical buttons over the touch buttons below the screen.

I too prefer physical buttons below the screen on the DROIDX. I can't accidentally press them

I like them too...I hate when I accidentally press the back button on my D1 when I'm in a game, or something similar...
Seems like I see people bash them more often than not though... I was just wondering what the drawbacks are?
Idk, ive heard many complain saying that they cant believe they would put physical buttons in a phone and not capacitive buttons. Either way, i think i would prefer the physical buttons myself. Ive caught myself hitting the buttons by accident, which is slightly annoying.

Id prefer physical buttons. But its such a minor issue, I don't care for whichever the manufacturer picks. I'm perfectly content with the touch ones on my d2

Personally I prefer to not have the physical buttons. I like the smooth clean look of capacitive buttons. Also don't have to worry about buttons sticking or being picked off by my kid. Just personal preference though. I do appreciate manufacturers still doing physical buttons. Gives more choices to the people that do like them.
Having actual buttons was one of the things that drew me to the X. But in practice, I found them to be very annoying. Didn't like the feel, and laying in bed late at night could actually hear the click of the buttons when the tv was off.
Now that wifey has my X, she loves it. Thinks the buttons are a huge improvement.

Not a fan of physical buttons. I don't know if it's because I'm so used to soft but every time I use my buddy's DX it gets annoying having to click & it seems to take longer.
i have a dx and a d1 and i definitly like the physical keys better because i can just click the home button to turn the screen on. with soft keys you have to hit the top button and thats annoying with the d1 and with a phone with a case on it.
