Rooting a Verizon Droid

I want to run Titanium backup....and maybe some other OS versions.
If I root my Verizon Droid, will it affect my Verizon "agreement" and will Verizon know?
Will Verizon frown on me having another OS?
When I get any updates from Verizon or Droid will I have to root again?

Just about what I expected..
I have 2.0 now. Do they automattically me push 2.1 to my Droid or do I have to get....errr avoid.... the upgrade online.

Uh....how do you "un-root".

2.0?? why on earth did you not take the 2 updates that have come out? Both updates improved the phone a good deal.

You should have recieved a notice saying there is an update available for 2.0.1 and 2.1. It should keep bugging you about it.

Unrooting is a pretty simple process. There are guides out there and #1 in my sig includes how to unroot as well.

Ooops....I did get the updates.
I am at "Firmware version 2.1-update 1". Does this mean I cannot root my phone anyway?

what exactly does this rooting do with your phone anyway?

Rooting allows you to install custom roms, overclock your processor, chnage themes, use titanium backup to back up apps, use barnacle for wifi tethering.
Rooting gives you super user control to change things on your phone that normal users can not change.

You can install a rooted 2.1 ota where you phone runs like stock but have the ability to run overclock kernels and other apps. My phone is rooted and overclock but I am running the stock just like you are. Overclocking allows my phone to run faster overcoming the lag.

Am I missing something here??
Verizon removed root access from 2.1 .....but I can root my 2.1-update1?
