Isn't mobile me from at&t? Well, I'm not sure what it is but if u can check it with IMAP then u can use k9 from the market and it'll be pushed. If you can only access it via POP3 then you can set the polling interval to 1 minute and it'll be like push, though you MIGHT want to set it to poll a little less frequently to save battery power.

Another alternative is to forward email to your gmail account and check it via the gmail app.

Don't use the stock email client.

I'd certainly agree with the last comment. And just a qualification on the first comment.

If you forward your email to the gmail server, you don't have to use the gmail app to manage it. You can use the K-9 client app to do so. Just point it at the gmail server.

My wife doesn't care for the threading approach used by gmail. She prefers a more traditional "outlook" separation of individual emails. The solution was to use K-9 as the email client for gmail. She gets "pushed" email from google and has a client on her phone that presents the email in a way she prefers. The gmail app sits in her app drawer unused.

P.S. Actually, her gmail account is simply a repository of email from her comcast email account. All mail she gets on comcast is simply forwarded to gmail and then to her phone where she accesses it via K-9.

I haven't tried it but you can apparently use k9 and the gmail app together.

Yes, you certainly can. I use both. For long email threads with my colleagues at work gmail is usually ideal since the individual emails are all collected under a single heading. However, sometimes the back-and-forth when several people are sending emails means that an individual response gets buried.

When that happens K-9 is ideal for finding a particular email.

I've turned off the notification on my gmail app to avoid double notification for the two apps. An additional benefit is that K-9 flashes a "purpleish" notification so I know when I've received new email as opposed to other notifications.

I am pretty sure this has something to do with your deleting options.

In your settings when you delete the message on your phone, you can set it to do different things to the message on the server, I think it's setting is to do nothing, can't recall for sure.... anyways, that number, to my bestknowledge is the email count on the server, not your phone.
I had a nice signature, but the mean ate it.
