We've already have an "About Us" here: http://www.droidforums.net/forum/res...s-purpose.html but we wanted to share some of what we are up to as well as offer a way others can contribute to this forum if they are wondering how to do so and are looking for ideas.
Below is an initial set of projects that we'd like to work on and have identified. We are presenting it for a couple of reasons.
- So you can see what we are up to
- So you can use this thread to suggest additional fact collecting projects that you think would help others
- So you can take on one of these projects yourself and/or assist with one already underway. This may even be as simple as pointing out the fact that someone else already completed such a task.
You've seen the guides, FAQ's and tutorials out there. We're looking to find existing ones we may have missed, collect separate pieces together if they do exist, or create them if they don't exist. We'd much rather link to existing guides like:
Existing Project 1: The DroidForums Solutions Thread - common issues with common problems collected into the start of the thread. If you come across such a post that seems common enough that locating it quickly would assist others please add it to that thread where it will get moved into the top post. Try and follow the format already used in post #2 of that thread.
Existing Project 2: seen some questions here is a video of droidmod - This is a collection of videos. If you have a good instructional video that you made or found, please pm Pilotcharles747 and it will get added to this thread.
Upcoming Project 3: Rootcamp - The RS squad has worked out a gameplan to take folks from a stock phone, root it, overclock it, apply a simple theme change and then bring folks back full circle to where they started...a stock unrooted phone. Participants can decide if they want to tackle the task again themselves or perhaps skip the back to stock step and remain rooted. - open to anyone who wants to take this path or assist. Shooting to do this at some point in the future, most likely on a weekend. We plan on posting a new thread in the RS forum section announcing how this will work. The thread will be closed until the start of the root camp session and we will open it at that time.
As you can imagine...as we get close to putting this one together the technique keeps changing. We first planned this prior to 2.1 OTA coming out.
Wanted Project 4: A theme collection thread. First post contains links to the various apps themes that are similar. Layout: name of theme, screenshot, list of files for various widgets and metamorph packages for that theme. For example: a smoked glass theme, a blue smoked glass theme, a clear theme, a clear glass theme, a gold theme, a camouflage theme ...each with as many components as there are for it pulled into a common collection point. Each link points to the existing instructional guide and names the dev of that theme piece. If interested, pm Christim
Wanted Project 5: Complete list of boot animations - the first post of a thread maintained with a link to various boot animations along with an animated gif of what it looks like. if interested, pm Jonny Kansas or if such a thread exists already pm anyone of us or post in this thread.
Wanted Project 6: A guide explaining how to get someone using a Mac computer to sbf flash back to stock. pm mwhartman
Wanted Project 7: A list of all kernels and which roms they work with and which roms are not recommended to use them with. This maintained and updated in post 1 of a thread. Post 2 describing why one rom might be better to use than another. Post 3 dealing with overclocking and other technical details. Interested parties can send a pm to Christim
Ongoing Project 8: suggestions and ideas of collections or new information that would be useful to others. While new guides are ok there is a wealth of information on this forum that can be collected and put to good use. Post ideas in this thread here or pm anyone on the RS team.
Existing Project 9 - completed: Shortly after Rom Manager came out we realized a guide would be helpful. A request was put out in a thread where folks were talking about how great it was, asking for a guide to help those who were getting stuck. Romanrish stepped up and produced this in an hour or so's time: FAQ What is Rom Manager and how do I use it
Completed Project 10: What was worked for a couple of days by pilotcharles747 and RoLoDrOiD has been rolled out as a completed project and is available here: Clockwork Recovery Troubleshooting guide . It was sent to Koush for his input and feedback as well. We hope it comes in useful. __________________
