And what kind of troubles have you had?
Thank you! Have to run some errands, but will try it later tonight.
I was actually trying to ReRoot my Droid after the latest OTA update, using RSD Lite. SPRecovery blocked the update once, but for some reason, when it popped up again a few days later, I accepted it, but it didn't block it. When I tried to reroot, I was having trouble running RSD Lite as an administrator. It's possible it was automatically running as an administrator, since I'm the only one that uses my computer, but was scared to continue without knowing more first. In the mean time, I was in the VZ store for something else, and wound up using one of two updates I had on the Incredible, so I didn't pursue the RSD problem any further. At least, not yet.
Okay. Well, since we're getting off-topic here and we don't want to do that feel free to try DM Updater and we'll move to another thread to finish if it doesn't work for you.![]()
This is so simple, took me less than five minutes!! I didn't want to go through the RSD Lite option as that caused too many issues the last time I tried flashing a ROM with it. You have to have the file in a specific directory and sometimes it'll still have issues. I needed to return my phone today and I couldn't find something simple like this. Will be getting my replacement D1 tomorrow. I feel so out of place without it, can't wait. Thank you!
P.S. How come there are no "hug" smileys? Is it because that's too "girly" and it's presumed only guys are on this forum?![]()
Try this one, sapnasparks
It's located here -- just click the little postcard icon and paste the address in there.

^ Hahaha...thanks!Didn't think about doing that.
jtndroid: Here's the hug I owed you for such a helpful guide!
& I'm surprised this isn't a sticky.
UPDATE:
For some reason, I never could get this method to work. I tried five different zip files. I had orgionally unrooted with super one click, and that worked to unroot then I did a factory reset after that and the SU icon came back. So maybe that had something to do with it. anyway i used RSDlight. I never could get the device to show up but when I slected the file. the start button poped up. out of options I rolled the dice and prayed it worked. flashed it to the first froyo. all stock. the in a few mintues I got a OTA installed it. then a bit later got the last OTA so I am all current and stock once again. Thank you all that help and do these write ups
Yes, unfortunately it seems as though jntdroid and I have one step missing to remove ALL traces of root. However it can't be done if for some reason one still has the stock recovery system installed, and can only be done using adb shell if you have the SPRecovery system.
And that step is in CMRecovery where you go to the partitions menu and select format /system before applying the update.zip as that is where Superuser.apk and the su binary are located.
Think you may be right teddyearp. I'm looking at SPRecovery now and it only has options to wipe cache and data partitions, not system. Clockwork lets you format anything and everything.
I'm going to go through the whole process again, starting with applying the master FRG22D and then applying FRG83D.
Edit: I suppose you could manually edit the system partition and delete those things while you are still rooted, then apply the master to return to stock.
