ok im having a problem with my droid not being recognised on rsd light 4.6 and i am running 2.2 the problem was i used easyroot and rooted my phone then my girlfriend updated my phone yesterday morning "she thought it was wat i wanted" not my wireless tether my overclock widget and all that wont work my superuser permmisoins still allow a lot of things to happen but its like my rom over runs it and re clocks it down to 500 or 600.. help or give me an email at firstname.lastname@example.org
One problem with the easy root methods and one button push methods if if you read the threads out there it sometimes can involve pushing more than one button. If you look in motocache1's thread or the first post of this thread, the manual method comes down to this:
install something on your windows computer (rsd lite)
use that to install something on your phone (sprecovery)
back up your system with sprecovery
Then use that to install a rom or kernel.
Yes there are steps to each of those, but there also are steps for other methods, like: open your app drawer and locate the market icon. click that icon, go to the market, locate ABC app, download that, go open it, click on this, etc.
And then, folks end up here anyways
But onto what you want:
RSD Lite sometimes doesn't recognize the phone. It might be the order you are plugging it in. There are others throughout this thread that have that happen from time to time.
Start with this guide: http://www.droidforums.net/forum/res...correctly.html
And those who just can't get it to work on their computer tend to hop on another computer in the house or at a friends house and it works just fine from there.
If you apply a rom or theme - backup first!
If you don't know how to backup...Stop until you do.
hint: I name my backups like this: sg6.0_20100428 or ss4.2_20100626 to easily find them later. rom and date.

followed instructions for using sprecovery to unroot, worked except almost all of the android processes fc immediately and all i get is my notification bar no homescreen and back menu home search buttons dont work. but sprecovery is gone, heh. tried sbf method but the start button never becomes available and some of the properties of the phone in rsdlite say "n/a" but shows model as "SE Flash OMAP3130SI" and status connected.
is my phone busted?
ps used my vista desktop bout to use my 7 laptop from work, if that dont work guess i'll go to the shop and get my old xp laptop i used to root in the first place
pps ok so i guess thats another reason that vista sux. rsdlite worked like a champ and now i got 2.2 ota. this is windows 7 and it was my idea.

I'll vouch for this method! Just finished unrooting mine!
BTW: If RSD does not recognize your phone follow these steps:
- pull battery
- attach usb to phone
- attach usb to cpu
- slide phone into landscape mode and press AND HOLD up on the d-pad
- while holding UP, insert battery.
Also, RSD was set to "first come first serve" in device options.
Thanks for the write up! Another success!
How long does it take to receive 2.2 OTA after an unroot?
Nevermind, received 5mins after I posted. Up and running on 2.2 ~15min after unrooting!
