    Serious help...

I love this ROM. It is by far the most stable and fast I have used. However, something has happened in the last week or so where it overheats and completely drains the battery in several hours. I have tried several different kernels, different SetCPU settings, different Advanced Task Killer settings, tried to figure out what has been using the battery but get no information from that (maybe I'm not doing it right?). I don't know what to do! I even tried changing ROMs a couple times but no help...just different problems. I'm desperate...I'm even tired of trying new things...just want things to work for a while.

    cavaliercarey,

My phone is pretty much doing the same thing and I have left the original slayer ROM on there. Let me know if you figure it out!

For example, I can be streaming audio from NPR, or This American Life, or Pandora and with the screen off and the phone is getting warm?? And of course because it is getting warm my battery is getting drained ridiculously fast say in under 3 hours!!!

Another example is when I browse the web or play a game or sometimes restart, my phone goes above 50degC. And by the way I have my SetCpu max speed set at 800mhz.

mwhartman: remove the task killer???? I don't get it, is that a joke?

Nobody was kidding about removing the task killer will help you out immensely. Reason has been explained to death dozens of times in numerous forums. Search and ye shall find. Give it a try, you'll see.

Kill the Task Killer -- it just sucks battery life and causes the CPU to run hot and heavy because it's ALWAYS polling the battery.

    OK, CHECK!!!

I have not had a task killer in months. What other suggestions do you have?

Sorry, I thought your suggestion was a joke because I didn't think people were still using the task killers with 2.2.

1, what's the minimum speed you have SetCPU at?
2, have you installed any apps recently that would sync a lot?
3, are you WiFi tethering a lot lately?
