Hoping someone can help me here. I have nothing bad to say about this rom. It's great.
When I install the extended ring tone pack, and the phone reboots, it comes up into what seems to be recovery but with no options as its loading something automatically. Thats fine I figured it should do that since it is loading something automatically. What comes up is "no such file or directory dev block/and some other wierd stuff that i can't catch long enought to type" I go in and try to install the package again and it goes to recovery and says:
ClockworkMod Recoveryv2.5.0.1
waiting for SD card to mount (20s)
SD card mounted
--Installing: SDCARD: update.zip
Finding update package...
Opening update package...
E: Can't open /sdcard/update.zip
(no such file or directory)
Installation aborted.
/tmp/recovery.log was copied to /sdcard/clockworkmod/recovery.log. please open rom manager to report the issue.
I don't even have rom manager. So I'm not sure whats going on.
Any insight on what ive got messed up?
couldn't have said it better myself. i know its a pain but its worth it. wipe system, data, cache, and dalvik cache and let market install your apps. or at the least if you backup apps with tibu then restore the apps only no data at all not data not system. I AM NOT SAYING YOU CANNOT RESOTRE DATA FROM DATA i merely giving my recommendation because it seems for the most part people who wipe and restore nothing have a better outcome. (not always but the majority of the time) plus its good for you phone to get completely wiped out of all that junk sometimes.
some people seem to have an issue with the multitouch distinct.xml the new one that all roms for droid use at the end of froyo. the last couple froyo roms some people over all roms reported this issue so i had a few of though people install with the old way and their phone was fine except you will lose two finger rotation for maps. if you would like i can send the xml to you and you would have to put it into the rom then flash and delete another xml. let me know if you would like to try this.
did you flash a different kernel before booting up? the default kernel is really low voltage and som epeople exp lag, unresponsiveness, reboots, etc so if those were your issues then install, flash a different kernel (standard voltage) and see how it goes. that may help.
ok i tried to respond to what i saw (just got home) hope it was helpful in some way. I'll check back periodically before going to bed.
About the phone thing. I am looking at the bionic or sg2. hoping the sg2 is 4g and hoping the bionic is unlockable (liek the xoom bootloader) but we will see i guess. I would think with moto saying they will unlock their phones and the atrix update thats coming having the unlocked bootloader (which someone snagged and unlocked the atrix with)that they would either have it unlockable or soon after launch but who knows with their track record so its pretty much a waiting game. I wont buy a phone that snot un-lockable sorry folks. as good as the bionic looks if its not un-lockable even if you can gt a rom on it the way milestone and dx works i would much rather have an unlocked/ un-lockable phone.
