This seems to have helped...I then added Videos 1.4 from the market for playback (its always been better than the gallery for playback for me).

That was my only complaint about the rom and now it seems pretty close to perfect.
    Thanks!

I know we'd REALLY appreciate it pal. I've cycled through every kernel on the list with similar results. While the choppiness was reduced, it still wasn't perfect. For now, I can use the 'youtube' mode and still get decent quality without the choppiness. Again, thanks for all you do for us!

Any solutions to this yet? I reinstalled 5.0.2 yesterday and wanted to take pictures today and the Camera kept freezing and FCing. The video is still choppy as well..

Same here. Moving back to 4.2 for now until this is fixed.

I just reinstalled 5.0.2 a couple days ago and everything is stable except for the camera, so I'm cycling through various kernels as I type. I've heard the right kernel will stabilize the camera.
Another note; when I tried one kernel in particular, my camera would not even snap a photo, so the kernel makes a huge difference.
I've heard a lower mhz kernel will help, but it didn't make much of a difference for me. Since each phone reacts differently to the same kernels, it's hard to suggest one to a peer.

Ok after trying a bunch of different kernels, I ended up with a Chevy#1 lv 1gz kernel. My video was still crazy choppy viewing on the phone and PC. All I did was reduce the max overclock to 700mhz. Rebooted, then recorded a video. Watching it on the phone was very good...minor glitch at first. But copying the same video to the PC and playing back, the video was perfect. So with whatever kernel you're on, just try to lower the max governor to 700mhz, then increase or decrease from there and see if the choppiness reduces. Trial and error! Let me know if it works for you all.

I tried your method and it's still choppy on my phone. Any other solutions? How's it still working for you?
