PE4.2 and Gimpsta's HTC IME mod

First time using PE rom so far no troubles
when I use the HTCmod keyboard when I press the keys no sound comes out.
I have sound feedback checked but nothing comes out when type.

is your media volume turned all the way down? settings>>sound>>volume

I like the gingerbread keyboard that comes with pe 4.2...i just wish the colors of letters/numbers/symbols werent white, but green like the stock 'themed' notification symbols...any thoughts on how to change this?
