.gif files?

This is a discussion on .gif files? within the Pending Submissions / Questions forums, part of the Droid FAQ category; When someone sends me a text that is a .gif file it doesn't play.....anyone know why that is?...

    .gif files?

    When someone sends me a text that is a .gif file it doesn't play.....anyone know why that is?

    Many GIFs don't work on Android. From a developer perspective, you have to open them as if they were movies instead of still pictures, and even if you do it right it often doesn't work. Android is very picky about how well formed the GIFs have to be. There is probably a bug on b.android.com about it one could star if they wanted to vote to get the issue fixed.
