annoyng power saver

Hi. Im having issues with the power saver when making and receiving calls. I use speaker phone 90% of the time and when I answer or make a call the droid likes to blank out the screen and I have to unlock the phone and hit the power button up top to bring up the ui so I can hit the speaker phone option. Its pretty annoying and a little wonky at times(flips back and forth). I have the timeout set to 1 minute but the phone seems to be ignoring this.
