I'm going to fight my speeding ticket.

I received my first ticket in almost 10 years this morning, and I believe I'm going to fight it.

Can you spot the speed limit sign?

If that picture is taken during the same time, weather and angle as you would encounter driving by, you may have a shot. Do you live in the area - common route? If not, there is also something to stand on - if you cannot read the sign how can they fine?

More power to you. I've had a few I wanted to fight but never have. Let us know how it turns out
Droid does some cool and amazing things. Yet it does not do some basic stuff that has been stock on most phones for years. It makes me think the Google developers were marooned in some kind of a 1977 LOST flashback/flashforward/sideways combo reality gameshow

Common route or not, if the speed limit isn't able to be seen, they shouldn't be able to ticket you... unless you were being excessive in your speed. For example, you weren't doing 90 I hope lol

My dad ran a stop sign many years ago. The sign was covered by overgrowth and impossible to see. He took pictures just as you have done. He lost. Good luck.

From my experience, I think its gonna be a tuff fight. If you weren't going over 5 MPH, then I would say you have a chance.

for all we know the sign could be 10 feet back behind you.

In Florida, there are maximum speeds (you are assumed to know this) on each type of road. If there is no sign, you are not allowed to exceed that maximum, that again, you are supposed to know.

If its a residential or business district, unless otherwise posted, its 30MPH.

Interstate, unless otherwise posted, its 70MPH.

All other Highways, its 55MPH, unless otherwise posted.

So here, even if you are on say, US 1 (A1A) or US301, if there is no sign, you aren't allowed to go over 55mph. If a sign says 40, then its 40, not 55.

As the cops will say, ignorance isn't an excuse. (not a slam on you, just a quote)

    Good luck though.

Well, here is the catch. After some research, there is no posted speed limit sign on the side of the street I entered. However, there is a suggested speed sign of 30 MPH. Therefore, we can safely assume that the speed limit is above 30 MPH on the street, but how much above? I could also see that street being 45 MPH as it's out in the country. That said, if one end of the road is stating the suggested speed is 30 MPH, and you can't see a speed limit sign for 25 MPH, how is one supposed to know what the actual posted speed should be?

Just see if you can take a safe driver's course. Might cost $35 and like 90 minutes online, and they often waive the ticket (since you haven't had one in awhile).

Your picture proves nothing, as stated. Unless the cop fails to show for court, as they sometimes don't, it will be over in 30 seconds and you will lose.

Maybe if you offer to submit a video along a path several miles in either direction of the spot of the ticket, the judge will just dismiss as opposed to sitting through the video. Have a friend shoot the video, and then they can submit they shot the video and there is no posted speed limit.

I mean, think about your argument. If it could fly, nearly everyone that gets a ticket would be using that excuse to get out of it. Your word against the cop, you lose every time. And you'll be hit with additional court costs for contesting the ticket (if you lose).
