Too soon to completely eliminate feature phones?

Being curious, I checked out feature phones on Verizon's website and I noticed that there is a very mediocre selection of "feature" phones. It seems like Verizon is planning to eliminate feature phones. Doesn't it seem kind of early to do that? Not everyone wants a smart phone.

I think it would be stupid to do so. Not everybody wants or needs a smartphone. The feature phones are also very cheap and command a high price. Verizon has always had some of the worst phones; only in the past couple years have they gotten better (because of the smartphones)

Yeah I remember the days with the cool feature phones like the env touch and the LG voyager. I had the env2 and I loved it. Now all Verizon has are crappy flip phones. Not a good idea Verizon.

I noticed that too. My old env touch was way better than the feature phones they have for sell now.

I admittedly don't check other carriers phone selection but Verizon doesn't produce phones so maybe its not their fault. I mean more and more people are moving to smart phones so why sink a bunch of r&d into a phone that appeals to a small percentage of the consumer base. For every person I know with a feature phone I know 6 or 7 with smartphones. I'm not saying completely phase them out but the manufacturers are trying to push people to buying a smartphone.

I also think there is something to be said about expectations. Once you have owned a nice smartphone, feature phones aren't going to have the same appeal they once did. And I don't know about you guys but my LG voyager was a turd.

You haven't seen the feature phones Verizon has had in the past 2 years. Terrible. You spend over $100 just to get one that feels like it might last through the contract...

It would be cool if low end android phones could be the new feature phone.

But there are people out there that don't want to have to pay for a data plan.
