    4G data plans.

Will the 50 a month be unlimited data usage? Not sure if anyone knows yet or not just curious.

    From what I've read about:

    $50 for 5 GB
    $80 for 10 GB

    $10 for every GB afterwards.

This isn't official yet, so I'm not so sure.

But, if these are the official prices for the 4G, I'm just gonna get a 3G phone than.

The Droid X looks great, but it's being discontinued in about 10 weeks. So, I'm not sure what 3G Droid phones are coming out this year, since 4G is taking off.

    Verizon LTE Pricing

Yeah yeah yeah, I know nobody knows about LTE pricing yet.... but what do you guys think? I know we all WANT unlimited 4g but do you think a cap is in Verizon's future?

I firmly believe it will be tiered. And you will have an option to for unlimited data..

I also think that if you already have unlimited data that you will be grandfathered in. Verizon has already announced tiered data so it should fall into one of the available plans.

If you jump to a LTE phone, you would sign a new contract, thus you won't be grandfathered in. Is that a correct assumption?

I've heard that it isn't unlimited from other also..... I need to go get my droid x. I haven't had a smartphone yet, when the give you say 5gb for 50 dollars a month how long does that last surfing the web and using apps on your phone. I don;t really get how it works.

I could be wrong but I don't think this is how it works - the new contract is for length of service and commitment - unless you specify a plan change then it stays the same - but with the introduction of LTE - who knows how it will work

Think about this: the droid bionic looks to be released in the 3G form with the 4G becoming available on an update. In order for Verizon to do this they would have to have you sign up under our current 3G pricing (as they can't allow you to sign up for a higher service that you physically can't receive). Then when the update becomes available for 4G they couldn't charge you more (breach of contract). Just my thoughts on it but I really don't think they will change the data pricing, at least not initially.

You don't have to sign a new contract to buy a 4G phone. Only is you wanted the susidized price would u have to sign a new contract. Over the long term it may be quite beneficial to just buy the phone outright and maintain your current plan thus saving you money on a monthly basis. Even comparing the highest 3G package (unlimited data @ $30) vs the lower 4G package (assuming they did go with the same as for laptop singles @ $50) you would save $240 over one year or $480 over two years and have unlimited data. You have to remember that the data packages in the plans only govern amount of data not speeds.

So if you buy the phone outright you don't have to pay for data plans?
