i never said anything about the incredible, but thanks for pointing that out.
You can customize an iPhone if you "Jailbreak" it....
Why is that different than "rooting"?
you will never be able to customize it even a fraction of what is possible with android.
The VENDORS can set up android any way they want, not the END USER.
i am the end user, i can build a rom from source, add/removes features of my choosing and setup the rom how i'd like as long as its within the abilites of the source i am building off of. you cannot even come close to that with ios/iphone.
Dude, you cannot "build a rom from source" on many of the now releasing android devices...... Also, can't you dualboot on iPhone and have iOS and android? That sounds like more customization to me.

Have you ever held an iPhone or an iPad? Because I seriously doubt any of the loudest protestors have. It is far better than you are giving it credit for....

The apps are better on iPhone, noone can argue that.
So the hardware doesn't mean nearly as much....

I bet an i7 with windows me would be a lot ****tier than a pentium 4 running xp!!
You call me names, I call your Mom!!

This just means more Androids for sale cheap to us.

I don't care if Verizon is getting an iphone. I wouldn't have it if it came with a free macbook AND ipad. I learned a long time ago about Apple, and I won't ever have another thing made by apple. If Android dies because verizon gets the iphone, I will go back to a regular cellphone before I'd have an iphone.

While its true the iphone has much better apps than Android and that retina display is gorgeous. I wouldn't buy an iphone for myself I would rather have an Android device just because I want a screen bigger than 3.5 inches the iphone on verizon would be great though it would allow me to add my wife's iphone to my account rather than her carrying around a second verizon phone for those times when she doesn't have att service. And don't think the unreal engine isn't coming to Android I've seen it on an sgs and tegra device. Plus hopefully with gingerbread/hunnycomb allows for higher resolution so we may see a 4.3 device with a resolution like the galaxy tab
Upgrade now or wait hmm that's the question

I owned all 3 previous iphones and I've played with the iphone 4 a ton. I now own the samsung fascinate and I honestly get angry inside when people think the iphone 4 is better. I just don't see ANYTHING better about it. My screen blows away the iphone 4 "retina" display. At normal viewing distance all those extra pixels don't mean jack. I actually showed my phone to an iphone 4 owner the other day and he said, "wow, is this an HD screen?"

I just hate everything about the iphone, period.

I thought this was an interesting article. I found it this morning and wanted to share it with everyone here. As for me, You will have to pry my Droid out of my cold dead hand

Thought it would make a good discussion too.
It *does* make for good discussion, and I agree with Jim's final observation that "You will have to pry my Droid out of my cold dead hand "

    Right on Brother Mariner!

First and formost.... the article the post is based on is and apple fanboi troll post. And we have all fallen for it. Moving forward....

I had the original iphone and a 3g. But due to terrible at&t service I switched to an unlocked storm. Then switched to verizon. Then got a droid.

I jailbroke the iphone and had a great time customizing it and using html to make fake widgets. But it does not compare to the expirience I have had with my droid.

And to the guy saying "the end user doesn't have the ability to cusomize due to bootloaders and blah blah blah" STOP BEING A NEGATIVE FRAKKIN NANCY. The modding community will change that and we all know it.

The android os will survive because of the many different hardware options available.

As I write this on my D2 I think back to when I got my first iphone....

I thought to myself "man this would be the best phone ever if it had a slide out keyboard"

That alone will be the beciding factor for some people.

And unfortunatly the apple modding community still has the "that's mine and you can't use it. And if you do I will take my ball and go home" childish mentality. The android community has lair ups of this from time to time but generally we are more of a "for the community" community.

The iphone is beautifully designed. Ill give em that. Id use the iphone hardware if it ran android with out buggy hacks.

Bah. I need to get out of this thread before the troll bite marks become perm.

No matter what yall say we only make up a small percent of vzw users. So the hardcore droid users are maybe 20 to 25 % of vzw market. Alot of android users admitted to buying the droid because they wanted an iphone. THe iphone will se an initial surge. It will be on android to produce a better phone. I am glad that apple is coming to vzw now it will force phone manufacturers hands to be more innovative in order to keep from being like palm. Palm was hot for a little bit and now not too many people use palm. So bring on the competition and hopefully motorola and htc will realize that the products they are putting out will have to be that much better.
-take control of your nexus experience: Make the Vzw Galaxy nexus your Galaxy Nexus. Fastboot oem unlock (to find out how ask a rescue squad member).

I agree that the loudest protesters are the ones that have never used an iphone. It is a great phone that a ton of people want and people who deny that are kidding themselves. An iphone on verizon is going to put a huge dent in android especially when it sells millions of units on its release date, will get plenty of converts and is on the best network.

Oh and no I'm not switching

I think you guys are looking at the picture wrong.

When the Iphone hits Verizon's network there will be massive sales. That will be due to all of those AT&T people switching over to Verizon, who has pretty much the best network. AT&T will take a huge hit. Verizon's bandwith probably will too, but we should have 4g or whatever by then, so we'll see how Verizon handles it. There is no talking to Apple lovers. They love everything Apple makes, and thats fine with me. Personally, I think Apple sucks, but whatever. Apple is here to stay, and they have a big following. They will do fine.

    Now, on to Android :

Android has already "won". You see the numbers. It's been 2 years and the number of people who've bought Android devices has skyrocketed beyond expectations. It's not about the "Droid" line. It's about the OS. The hardware companies will trip all over themselves to make devices that run Android : some with certain types of screens, some with more processor power, some with keyboards. This gives all of us Android lovers something Apple users don't have - choice. We can choose. We can get the hardware that suits us. You like a keyboard? I don't. What can we do? We can BOTH have Android. We just have to choose which device we prefer.

The OS is what matters. Android's OS rocks. It's customizable, it's easy to use, and it works very well. As the number of users grows and grows, the Market will become more of a viable developer platform for sales, further increasing the number of users. It's the "Network effect". The more users, the more support, the more users.

I have a Droid 1. It's rom'ed to death, customized to death, overclocked. I look around and see other devices that I'd like, and I can easily spend the money for it.. but in the end I say to myself "is it worth switching?" I keep coming up with "No" for an answer. My phone does everything I want. Camera, phone calls, texts, email, navigation, music, tethering. The list goes on and on. I went on a business trip this week and I was never lost, I could find places to go, I could check-in for my flight from my phone - it was essential. I'm at the point where I really would feel lost without it. I even considered buying a laptop for this trip.. then I realized I really don't need one. I have my phone. Sure, laptop is easier, but I can do everything I need from my Droid.

There's nothing that I can think of, not ONE SINGLE THING, that would make me ever give up Android over Apple's OS. Not one. As far as I'm concerned Android has a customer for life in me.

And there are millions of people who feel exactly how I do.
