LG Optimus 2X Dominates iPhone 4 in Browser Race

In the above video we get to see a browser race between the new LG Optimus 2X and the venerable iPhone 4. In the video the Android based LG Optimus 2X on the left simply smokes Apple's offering on the right during the second part of the test. In fact, when I watched, I thought the iPhone 4 was winning because it still had the browser "hourglass" and was still doing stuff, so I thought the Optimus 2X had hung trying to load other parts of the webpage; but then I realized the Optimus 2X had simply already finished loading the whole page! This amazing phone is soon to be shown off on the floor at CES, and we will report any new information as soon as we can, so stay tuned.

In the video both phones are running off of wifi not mobile networks.

Good catch. But maybe the point in the test was to compare how fast the device could render a page rather then how fast the network is.

Which highlights the value of the processor (and maybe ram).

But for what it's worth, LTE is going to give comparable speeds to Wifi. At 8-12mbps it's faster than a lot of low and mid-tier home broadband. Not sure many websites really even utilize that capability and might max out at, say, 3mbps (depends on traffic, I suppose).

But that video illustrates to me the impact of LTE. If you're otherwise mostly indifferent that speed will be a big seller. That phone on LTE vs. a 3G phone, especially for streaming or dowloading video, is a no brainer for most buyers.

can't edit....best part about a phone like this, especially on LTE (but maybe even 3G) is that you set video links to automatically load and get possibly the same browsing experience as before when you had to disable that flash feature.

It was subtle, I didn't really pick up on that until watching the video a 2nd time. But, wow, that's how I'd push LTE if I were VZW. To be able to load video and still render pages that quick? That would be one of my big complaints with 3G is that I wish it could auto-load video but I know better given the bandwidth constraints.

Wow, that's a heck of a lot faster than in the Israeli video. Nice! No let's get this to VZW ASAP!

    This right here......

And it was funny the iPhone got to the site faster, but the LG loaded the entire page first, even after getting there later.

This has nothing to do with lte, it's a comparison on the page loading times. I didn't get any feeling at all this was to do with 3G vs 4g, but that it's a comparison of the new dual core vs single core of a device that is considered by a lot of people the best phone.
