transfer photos from droid x to mac

I am new to the forum and find it extremely difficult to get around this maze.
I have a droid X and beginning to like it very much. Took some photos and rather than emailing each one, I'd like to import them into my Iphoto in my Mac, How do I do that? Thanks

First, welcome!

Second, I'm not a mac user, but I would assume this type of thing works similarly either way.

Plug your dx into your computer via the usb cable that came with it (the one that doubles as the charger cord).

When you do this, you should get a notification in the bar saying something like "usb connected".

Click that notification. You should see a popup with a few different options. The easiest to do what you want will be to click usb mass storage. Then, using a file explorer program (again, I'm not too familiar with macs), locate the phone. Within the list of folders from your sd card, you should see one called DCIM. This is where your pictures are stored by default. Simply select all the ones you'd like to copy to the computer and paste them into the proper folder on your mac.

On my iMac it activates image capture automatically, which really IMHO is unnecessary.

And I think Motorola thought so as well because that's not how it works on the Droid 2. The Droid 2 the first thing that happens is a message pops up saying the Mac doesn't recognize the device. You click ignore. Then you set it on mass storage mode and the no name icon pops ups.

Subsequent connections you no longer have to choose Mass Storage, it's already to set to that but you do have the message about device not being recognized - even though it clearly is. And no image capture windows open up.

In the pull down window on the D2 are PC Mode, Windows Media Sync, USB Mass Storage, and charge only. Quite a bit different from the D1.

Ok, but if you don't have an SD card, and the photos are just on the phones memory, how do you transfer? I know you can use v cast media manager, but is there another way? Or another app?

That's a good question...no idea. Didn't think pics could be saved on the onboard memory...

How to load Droid X photos/videos on Mac iPhoto
I am a Mac guy, and this was a great annoyance. So we can be clear, I'm using a Droid X (Android 2.2.1), MacBook Pro (OS X 10.6.7) and iLife/iPhoto 09. I tried all the various tips, and nothing, couldn't see any photos or files (the phone would appear as no name, but no photos, no import button). In a fit of frustration, I connected using the USB cable, and selected Windows Media Sync from the drop down (yes it sounds dangerous and counter-intuitive). But then, droidX appeared in iPhoto, along with pictures and an import button. Violia - pictures imported into iPhoto.

I tried buffasaur suggestion. However every time I selected Windows Media Sync, iPhoto gave me an error message of
Disk was not ejected properly.......

Then there is no indication to download anything.

Did anyone ever get this to work?

Had the same problem and got it to work. Using Droid (V 2.2.2), MAC (OS X 10.6.7).
1) Connect your Droid to your MAC using the cable.
2) You get a picture of a "Droid holding a USB" and on the lower portion of the screen "Turn on USB storage" - Click on that option.
3) You get a message "Turn on USB Storage.....". Click on "OK"
4) Your Droid will show up on your MAC screen as "NO NAME"
5) Open "No Name"
6) Locate the folder "dcim" and open it.
7) In your "dcim" folder is a folder named "Camera" - open that folder. This is where your pictures should be located.
8) You can select all, or a portion of the pictures you want, and simply move them to the folder on your MAC where you want to store them.
