    Migrating from XV6800 .. likely to a Motorola Droid

    I have been on Smartphones of varying kinds for the last 6 years. I have previously owned a palm treo, a black berry, a Motorola Q (not technically a Smartphone to me), and now the XV6800. All have had their good and bad points.

    I checked into an iPhone initially, but with no ATT in my area, I would have to get a long distance number from colorado and that just did not suit me.

    My primary use for the phone is for work.
    My xv syncs contacts and email with my corp. exchange server. It also sync's multiple Google calendars into a single point of reference for both work and personal. I use oggSync currently, which does a good job of sorting the different Google calendars into different appointment categories for display on the phone.

    I also sync some contact information (birthdays and such) to contacts linked to facebook.

    I am hoping to not take a step backwards with this level of integration should I move to a droid.

    I will likely be rooting the phone and changing roms, as the ability to tether (USB or Wifi) is a must for me when I travel for work. I have done a lot of reading before even joining the forum, and I am hoping for insight from more knowledgeable users to make sure I am not jumping into a phone that will leave me short of the functionality and tools I am used

    I don't think you'll be dissapointed. This phone will do what you want plus it has a great screen and interface. If you know someone with one ask to play with it or visit a store and give one a test drive. If you're lucky you may even visit a store that has a rooted phone due to someone stopping by and giving it an "upgrade".

    If you apply a rom or theme - backup first!
    If you don't know how to backup...Stop until you do.
    hint: I name my backups like this: sg6.0_20100428 or ss4.2_20100626 to easily find them later. rom and date.

    I moved from the XV6700 (the XV6800's predecessor) to the Droid. I have to say that I had the XV6700 for 2.5 years and hated it from day one. You'll like the Droid, I think. If for nothing else than the fact that you can read the screen in the sunshine.

    Used an xv6800 for too long. I would rather wipe my butt with uncooked rice for the rest of my life then use one again. Going from that thing to a Droid will make you realize what you were missing all this time.

    Droid = Porsche

    XV6800 = Pinto

    2 OG Droid

    1 Droid 2

    1 Droid 2 Global

    1 HTC Incredible

    1 HTC Thunderbolt

    2 Galaxy Nexus

    1 Galaxy S III (current) Running the stellar AOKP ROM
