Question Palm Treo user switched to Verizon Droid 3G

Most of my 1000 Contacts names and phone numbers from my Palm Treo transferred but all numbers were assigned to 'work' where before they were broken down as 'home, work, mobile,'. All my additional notes were dropped as were any pictures assigned to the contacts.

Palm had a very functional editing app. on the PC which allowed you to update all the contact info. on the PC (and it's big keyboard) then "hotsync" it to the Treo. I realize that the Droid syncs with Google Calendar and Contacts. My former Treo contacts do not appear in my Google contacts.

What is the most efficient way to update 1000+/- people on the Droid? I hope the answer is NOT by editing each record on the phone!

    Overwhelmed by technology...
