Still need help with contacts

Thank you to the member that helped me yesterday regarding the contact question. I am still a little lost though. I know they transfered all my contacts to my droid from my env, but the only ones that are showing in my phone are the ones either listed with facebook or google. i did the instructions about just trying to choose the ones i want, and when i did that, by de-selecting google and facebook, there were no contacts....even though i know that i do have contacts not on either google or facebook. i just did a test and added my work number in and tried to find it in my contacts...and it wasn't there. is there something i'm still missing or did they seriously make the phone contacts this hard to put in and find??? any help at all is majorly appreciated.
