    non stop rebooting

    Hi Guys,
My Milestone has a problem of nonstop rebooting…
I root it when I had 2.0 versions and after I update it to 2.0.1 version and try to add some fonts on Terminal Emulator this problem came and I cannot solve it.

The root which I used at the first time with 2.0V taken from the following website
    Google Translate

The update which I did to get 2.0.1 was with Motorola software update
Then I thought that I need to root it again and use the rooting file from another source (I think that that is what cost the problem)

Now when I open the Android System recovery I get the following message “E:Can’t open /cache/recovery/command”

When I try to root it with the new file it seems that it stops in the middle
    E:Can’t open /cache/recovery/command
    --Install from SD card…
    Finding update package…
    Opening update package…
    Verifying update package…
    Installing update…
    Cannot find update_binary
    Rooting from sdcard complete

When I try to root it with the old file I had I get the following message on the Android system recovery:
    E:Can’t open /cache/recovery/command
    --Install from SD card…
    Finding update package…
    Opening update package…
    Verifying update package…
    Installing update…
    Cannot find update_binary
    Rooting from sdcard complete

I have download another file from which claim that it should fix the problem
    German (DACH) 2.0.1 update.zip + root
Which suppose to fix the problem of “Cannot find update_binary“
But then I got the following
    E:Can’t open /cache/recovery/command
    --Install from SD card…
    Finding update package…
    Opening update package…
    Verifying update package…
    Installing update…
    Cannot find update_binary
    Assert failed: rb_fs_patch(“/tmp/delta.bin”, ”/”)
    E:Error in /sdcard/update.zip
    (status 7)
    Installation aborted

I have also tried to install the OTA versions with the RSD Lite v4.5.3 Multi Flash but keep failing
I really don’t know what to do I have try to read about this problem in many forums and I cannot find any solution which can help me to solve my problem
Your help will be much appreciating, I miss my milestone…
    Thanks,

    Hi nuriaz,

I looked at the issues below:

so still a couple of questions:

    1. Which Phone are you using - Milestone, ok, but which country are you from, what SW country was your MILESTONE loaded with?
    2. You dont really mention the reboot in this thread, so as I understand, since you did all the upgrade.zips, you are now stuck in a reboot cycle, am I correct?
    3. Now, here is what:

    a) the error: E:Can’t open /cache/recovery/command is normal, and expected. So this is a "common error", or this error is present will all upgrade.zips.
    b) The error "Cannot find update_binary" is also expected when rooting, as you do not "update anything", so in root, this error is correct. The phone upgrade.zip procedure is usually a "search and compare", ie. it will verify the upgrade.zip is for your PHONE and FOR YOUR REGION, then it will check whether there is anything to upgrade (Cannot find update_binary) actually means, didnt find anything to upgrade
From what I see, these 2 upgrade.zips ACTUALLY ROOTED your phone correctly.
When you tried the 3rd one, you got error "E:Error in /sdcard/update.zip
    (status 7)status 7"
This error means, you have used an upgrade.zip that was not intended for your PHONE SW VERSION (ie. wrong version of baseline, or wrong country).

However, none of these 3 upgrade attempts should have caused your phone to be stuck in reboot. When you let me know your SW version that your phone is on (ie. what country are you from), we can then take the next steps to restore.
    Rgds

    HI Thyrus,
    1. I bought the Milestone in HK so the SW is probably HK SW
    2. Yes you right, when i turn on the MS it gets until it loads up the SD card and then goes to non stop rebooting cycle. (i have try to load it without the SD card and with Empty SD card and also without SIM but non of it helped)

For the restore point i am waiting for your instructions, as i mentioned i have tried to download the SBF file from motorola_milestone:sbf [And Developers]
when i connect the phone to the RSD lite it shows that phone descriptions are N\A and the SW descriptions are there, when i push the START button it fails after few sec.

    thanks again

Ok here is what you do:

dowloadn the 2.0 sW for HK
    https://rsddownload.motorola.com/dow...p2a_1FF.sbf.gz

download rsd lite, you can find a link also in the link you sent in your post

    then:
    shut down Milestone.

    open keyboard. Milestone still "off".

then press the PPAD key "up" (it is the UP key on the keyboard, depending how you hold it (vertical or horizontal), it could be the "RIGHT" dpad key. Keep this pressed, then whilst keeping pressed, press the ON button. After about 5 seconds, releaase key. you should see the bootloader menu.

Then connect to the PC and start RSD lite. You should then select the avobe 2.0 software of the MS you downloaded for HK. Flash it to the MS.

this will reset your phone to the mode you had it in when you first got it. You will loose all data and applications, but at least you can use your phone again.

After this works, you can then do the same with the 2.0.1 HK software (sbf file)

    Hi Thyrus
the problem is that when i use the 2.0 SW of HK the "START" button on the RSD appears to be gray and cannot start the flash...

just rename the .sbf file to another filename, such as "HK20.sbf" or similar. sometimes it is confused with the filenames.

granted, this only works if you see your connected milestone as "device" in the list. but with the booloader mode activated, this should work

did you download the motorola drivers, also linked in my thread?

    Hi Thyrus,

    SHOLS_U2_01.14.0_UCASHLSEMEAB1B803F.0R_USASHLS00RT HKSG_P007_A004_HWp2a_Service1FF
