resyncing gmail and settings question

Hey friends,

Ok, here's the problem. My gmail got hacked. It started sending out spam messages thig morning so I had to change my gmail password. When I did this the gmail account anf calender on my phone, as well as the calender will not sync. When trying to re enter the password, one of those boxes with the twisty letters popped up asking me to enter letters above, and it would resync. After entering the letters MULTIPLE times, nothing is happening. Almost as if the letters were typed wrong, which they weren't.

I googled the same question and I kept ending up at factory reset. Buuut, I'm rooted, running sapphire 1.1.1., watermarkd theme and launcher pro (900 kernel). I really like my setup, and have backups made, so I guess my question is, a factory reset won't unroot my phone, I'm pretty sure of this, but will my recoverys still work? If I do the factory reset, inorder to reenter my g mail password, can I then go right into recovery and reflash backup? Or will it take me back to the pre gmail bad password and end up right where I started?

why dont you create a fake gmail account, add that account make it your primary, then delete the original account and re add it? i did that with my bosses phone and it worked
