question on new google voice search for emails

Ok, when you watch the video from google on new voice search w/2.2 upgrade, shows that you can say a name, along w/ email message pretty much at same time etc. When ever I try it, it pulls up contact along w/a spot for message, but i have to hit microphone again to get it going. Is there a setting im missing????? other than that it seems to work better at finding correct info etc.
