    ota update caused mp3 issue

i received my ota froyo today and have been quite pleased with how everything is running so far, except now i can't play any music on the standard music player. i haven't tried dling a different music app to see if it would work there, but i'm about to. the files are all there right where they've always been... is there any way to force it to read the sd card? anyone else have similar problems?

My issue is similar- all of my music is gone! I noticed that my ringtones had changed after the update and I went to fix that and noticed that all of my music is gone! I have done a battery pull (which has caused it to repeatedly freeze since!) and now I'm plumb out of ideas. Any advice?

You can try searching MusicMod on the market and that might let you play your music.

so my music reappeared after several battery pulls, i'm not sure what made it happen but i'm glad it did! my ringtones were also all changed, seemingly randomly. for the first while it made the noise it makes when it's reading the sd card as a ringtone, and then it started using random songs (though i still couldn't play/view them in the music player). i had to reset all the notification sounds several times before they stayed set.

everything is more or less back to normal now as far as the music goes, including random party shuffle playing of music (ugh).

i'm having a lot of other problems and will start a new thread about them but wanted to mention them here in case the issues are related. first, my auto-brightness setting now means always on full bright no matter what. second, no matter how many programs are open or closed advanced task killer says i only have 33-42m of available memory. third, i get no signal or a very weak one in places i used to get full strength signal.

I also tried the multiple battery pull, which did bring back some of my music, but not all of it. And none of my playlists. I resorted to re-syncing with my doubletwist- that is still working, so we'll see what happens with that.

After I did the battery pulls, though, I had massive problems with freezing and had to keep pulling the battery to restart and unfreeze. It was driving me insane. Since I've had my Droid, I have had to pull the battery maybe twice. I pulled it about 15 times within an hour today. *sigh*

I've had very few problems with my Droid since I got it, but it seems that I've had so many since the 2.2 update. I hope they're all just bugs that can be fixed with a new update.

Hate to tell you this but the Droid doesn't reset. Out of all the things you did, I don't see that you tried a factory data reset out of your privacy section. If you do that your phone should be OK. If that doesn't work take it back to Verizon for replacement, you may have got a corrupted file in your download.

i lost all of my playlists as well. and i know what you mean about the battery pulls/freezing! i have probably pulled my battery 6 or 7 times in the whole 8 months i've owned the droid and now i've done it about a dozen times in 3 days.

and i hope if this is a bug issue they will push out a small update soon, i can't deal with all of these problems for another few months!

Well, I finally got home to check on the re-syncing, and no luck. Nothing has changed. I then hooked up the Droid to the computer and tried to erase my music files- and every time it got close to finishing the erase, the Droid would unhook from the computer. I give up... I can't figure this out at all. *sigh*

    edited to add:

Well, I'm in the process of factory resetting. I couldn't get it to be on for longer than five minutes without freezing, so I had to do it. What a nightmare this whole thing is! No problems at all until this update! Ack!

    edited again to add:

The factory reset did nothing for the freezing problem. My day just keeps getting worse!
