Hotmail Sync Issue
Hello,
I tried searching first and didn't find an answer (other than just install K9,) so I apologize if this has already been covered.
Synchronizing with my Hotmail account causes all my messages that are Read on the Droid to become Unread on the Droid. This happens regardless of marking the messages Read on the Hotmail site and on the Droid. I've removed and readded the mail account on the Droid several times with no success.
The phone has latest OS and the issue pertains to the standard email client. I have TasKiller and Apollo Task Killer installed, but I disabled the auto kill settings.
The Gmail and Yahoo! clients seem to refresh and respond just fine, so I'm a little baffled.
Any guidance would be appreciated.
Thanks!

Don't everyone answer at once
Looks like a MS issue and there is no workaround.

I have also searched through this forum to find the answer to no avail. I noticed when I was setting up my yahoo account, there is an option to delete email from sever, but I don't know how to manually set up hotmail to work. Anyone out there with any clues?

this was my issue when i switched from alltel to verizon (my area they are still independent), I had an HTC Touch Pro, which was a windows based phone, and i loved loved loved the email program, being windows based it had a sweet hotmail layout. when i got my droid, i tried everything, different mail applications and couldnt get it to work right. i was only getting my inbox synced, and like you mentioned my read mail was coming up unread on the droid, and when it would sync I kept getting notifications of new mail, well it was the mail already read, but it was thinking it was new. i played around for like 3 days with it.....and gave up. Hotmail was my main email client. I also have a yahoo website and a business email. in the end here is my solution.
I have my yahoo business mail forwarding to my hotmail account. From hotmail, i have it forward to my gmail account. then i use gmail on my phone, easy enough, but it sucks cause i gotta get in my hotmail to clean out my inbox once a week.
another thing you could do is open up your browser (i use dolphin) and just go to hotmail.com on there, it has a really nice and easy to use mobile interface, yeah its not syncing, but you can access all your folders and stuff on there. i use that quite a bit...... I cant wait until MSN develops an app for hotmail... dont know why they have not yet.

1. Open the Mail app.
2. Hit the menu button > Add account
3. Enter your hotmail e-mail address and password.
4. Press Manual setup (don’t press Next!)
5. For account, select Exchange.
6. On the Server settings page, clear out the DomainUsername field and enter your hotmail address.
7. Change the Server to m.hotmail.com (without the quotes).
8. Keep the checkboxes the way they are (Use secure connection enabled, but don’t accept all SSL certificates)
9. Press Next.
10. Once the server settings are confirmed, you’ll be asked for how far back you’d like to sync your e-mail, contacts and calendars.
