Keys can't scratch it. I can prove that. If you got a scratch it wasn't from keys.
Then maybe it was my keyring. But I know I only keep two things in my pocket ever. and it happened in my pocket because I noticed it soon as it came out. I have seen the youtube vid where the kid goes alll crazy with a key on his. But I know mine had a scratch in it.

I've now got a small scratch too. All I can think of is I somehow got some grit in my pocket. The phone always goes in an empty pocket with no pens, keys, change, etc. I don't even notice it anymore for the most part.

If you apply a rom or theme - backup first!
If you don't know how to backup...Stop until you do.
hint: I name my backups like this: sg6.0_20100428 or ss4.2_20100626 to easily find them later. rom and date.

So if I grab my keys and scratch my phone, you'll buy me a new one?

I did try to avoid risky situations for my Droid, yet I was not super careful with it. I remained totally scratch free. About a week or so ago, I wiped off my screen with my sweatshirt, which had graphics screened on it. (it was clean). After I did this, I had a scratch!
Yes, it does take very hard material to scratch them (like sand, etc), but be careful, because the existence of such material my show up where you least expect.
Fortunately, I got a replacement from VZW for other reasons.

LOL I wanna see the proof.

I want to see proof too.
The screen is resilient, but it's not fool proof. I've started keeping my phone in a microfiber bag that comes with sunglasses. It seems to work and is easy to work with.

I've repaired (shallow) scratches in glass and plastic using the toothpaste method, but a product called PlastX works even better. It's about $4 per bottle at your local automotive store. Works like a charm.

are you sure its scratched? some marks can look a lot like scratches and not come out with a rub on the tshirt. try cleaning with a bit of alcohol or a microfiber towel.

Certain keys CAN scratch the screen, while most keys that you will get won't, doesn't mean they "can't".
Resistance is futile.
