set asms as my default text program?

This is a discussion on set asms as my default text program? within the Motorola Droid forums, part of the Droid 1 Forum category; if it's free, i'd like it to be my default text program. how do i change it?...

    set asms as my default text program?

    if it's free, i'd like it to be my default text program. how do i change it?

    @ home, tap menu button/settings/apps/manage apps. Then go to messaging or whatever txt app you use and clear default. After that open asms and it should prompt you for default, put a check at the bottom and select ok.

    may want to consider Google Voice

    you guys are very helpful. i tried to do google voice. it says it can't verify my phone number? i think i need an invite? i dunno. asms does suck though. i need to find something better.

    Google Voice is by invite only...

    Free texting I assume? If so, then yeah try to snag a google invite from someone..

    i dl'ed textplus, but it looks like my phone only wants me to use the text program it came with or handcent as my default program. any advice?
