    why don't live wallpapers run on 2.0.1?

    I've read quite a few posts about 2.1 and live wallpapers. However I've never heard anything about why 2.0.1 can't run live wallpapers with an app or otherwise. Anybody know?

    I suppose an app would allow this but its not part of the 2.0.1 build.
    It was fun while it lasted but the Storm is over...

    I'm sure someone could make an app to do it, but it wouldn't be as good as having it integrated into the OS like it is in 2.1. The live wallpapers are optimized to run on 2.1 and the ability to run the live wallpapers at all is coded into the 2.1 OS.

    You're not really missing anything. Most people that flash a 2.1 ROM don't use it after a while... it's just extra CPU cycles (i.e. battery drain and performance) and gets rather annoying after a while. It's cool at first but the novelty wears quickly.
