    Roaming charges overseas?

    I know the OG droid isn't a global phone, but I was wondering if anyone knows if I will get charged if I turn my phone on overseas and then I receive text messages. Also will I be charged if I use the free wifi from the local establishments. Thanks!

    Since your Droid is NOT global capable then YES... you will be charged data roaming charges outside the USA.

    You should go into your settings and click on AIRPLANE mode to turntour SERVICES off and turning WIFI which you can use without getting charged in your hotel room if the hotel offers WIFI.

    Text messages run off of your phone side and NOT your data side... so if you text you will have to turn your phone back on and you will again start being charged for roaming overseas...

    Those charges can be VERY expensive and you WILL be responsible for those charges.
