Did you check to see if the "Airplane Mode" was turned on? Go to Settings > Wileless & Networks and uncheck "Airplane Mode" if it is checked. If that isn't it, let us know and maybe we can find something else.
When rooting your device, the phrase "nothing worth doing is ever easy" applies!
Avoid the 1 click root methods!

Status 21 means space in the directory . Example: SAMPLE ROM instead of SAMPLE_ROM.

Worst case scenario
I'll look into how to fix this later today as I popped in quick b4 running out the door again. If someone else doesn't chime in with the fix, or I can't find it, we can always flash an sbf and then have you do the updates and/or just run your nandroid after that.

If it do rename your nandroids, use an sdcard reader to access your microsd on your PC and ensure the name doesn't have any spaces. If its not the backup then your will have to SBF your phone back to 100% stock.

I would try a file explorer to rename the backup. Or if you have a working recovery, you could do a wipe then flash a rom.

You can bypass that screen by: touch the top left corner of the screen, then top right, then bottom right, and then bottom left. This will bypass the Android Activation Screen.

Navigate to the /sdcard/clockworkmod folder/backups and ensure the nandroid you're trying to restore is named correctly.
