Help, I did something wrong to my Droid X
I down loaded z4root installed it and hit the permanent root and it started the down load. It was taking so long I had to stop it and my phone is acting crazy. It won't let me dial out, and everytime I try to restart the permanent root I get Sorry! The application z4root (process com.z4mod.z4root) has stopped unexpectedly. Please try again. Everytime I try it gives me the same message, can someone please help.

Pull the battery, then turn on airplane mode and permanent root again, that is if your still 2.2.1 if you got the OTA GINGERBREAD update you'll have to use Droid 3 one click or another method

Thank you however, it is not working for me. I go through the whole thing and it seems like it is working but in the end it just wont root. Any more suggestions would greatly be appreciated.

Are you on 2.2.1 or 2.3.3?

I am having this exact same issue as cooler thought described in first post...however I am running 2.3.3. Do you have any Suggestions for me? I have followed lots of youtubes and everyone's suggestions about deactivating my phone and having wifi turned off and USB debugging and I still wait over 15 min and have to do battery pull and then still end up getting the stopped unexpectedly message, getting really irritated w my droid which I normally love...thanks in advance for any help!!!

It's pretty hard to brick these phones unless you do something really crazy. I've flashed and rooted my Droid X about 100 times.
Z4Root stopped working with a later version of Android. But if you are still on Froyo it should work. You may need to do a factory reset and clear data and cache, then try again. It will take a little while to get all your data and apps back to normal, but you should be fine.

Well, success. I did not 'brick' my phone and I dont really intend on doing too much stuff without researching it first. HOwever, I have rooted it. I read and read and figured it out with some help from these forums. I know that you must learn and start somewhere so here I am. I was originally interested in rooting because I was interested in turing my phone into a wifi hotspot for my ipad so I thought I would try, cant hurt, it is my phone and it is capable of it. Well thanks for your help and if you have any suggested downloads or ideas it would be greatly apprecited.
