Question about ROM Manager

So I rooted my Droid last night, thank you for all the great info here. I now have ROM Manager installed and have done a complete backup. I just now downloaded a ROM and after that was complete it is asking me two questions: ROM Pre-Installation ... Do you want to 1) Backup existing ROM or 2) Wipe data and cache.

Here's my questions ...

1) Can I download this ROM and not install it right now?

and

2) If I do install it, is it very simple or even possible, to go back and forth between my stock ROM and the downloaded one via just a reboot?

You'd have to backup and restore. It's not as simple as you're thinking.
