Cannot get my Windows 7, 64 bit desktop to recognize my Droid. I get
"Uknown USB device detected". Any suggestions?
there are a few threads on people having problems. try a diff USB port or try loading Windows in safe mode and deleting any "unknown" devices in the device manager under USB.
Yeah, I would try unplugging and plugging into a different port. I'm running Win7 64 bit and I didn't have any issues. I would assume that since you mention desktop you might be trying to plug it in to a front usb port, try one of the ones on the back of the PC since they tend to get more power.
I did some experimenting with this on a number of machines and OS combination's. From my research, this appears to have nothing to do with the Droid, power or the OS, but rather is a hardware problem with the USB port itself.
Our Droids require a USB 2.0 compatible port. For example I have a desktop running Windows 7 64bit and the front ports don't work, but the rear ports work just fine. When I dug a little deeper the front ports are USB 1.1, but the rear ports are USB 2.0.
