Update fails, do I need to uproot/unfreeze bloat?

My phone gives me an Update Failed message after rebooting during the update process. Do I have to unfreeze all my bloat and unroot my phone? I also have the supercharge script running, do I need to disable that too?

Undo and disable all system modifications. Personally, I recommend an SBF as it is easier.
