so i download the zip on my phone or computer and dump it that way? once in recovery i boot using the update?
How to SBF X2 (until 1KDS releases ISO that is)
If you've done that or are already stock unrooted unROMed 2.2.2 then download the file, rename it to update.zip, put it on your SDcard-ext (not in any folders), go to recovery and install update.zip: Droid X2 Boot into Recovery - xda-developers
1 download the zip to your computer
2 rename it update
3 transfer it to your phone sd card
4 power down the phone
5 power up into android recovery, there are how to guides everywhere
6 select 'apply update.zip from sd'
Edit: Vinaaga beat me to it
also if you are rooted with nothing frozen this still works, superuser stays but doesn't work and can't be removed

It's a pretty good upgrade for those coming from unrooted OS, but during my lunch break i was listening to music and it was skipping and it shut down by itself..which I never got since I rooted my phone. I don't know if it's a one time thing but the skipping music really sucks..
If you're rooted, I would just stay rooted, but that's my opinion.
