Deciding between the X2 and the thunderbolt

I live in a 3G only area so would you go with the X2 or the HTC Thunderbolt?

Me personally I would go with the thunderbolt. That way you'll get grandfathered in to unlimited 4g pricing.

That is what I was wondering. I didn't know if the unlimited data on a 3G would carry over on the next upgrade?

I'd say the question is when will 4g become available.

I live in the boonies so it wasn't a question for me, I'm not seeing LTE till 2013, if I'm lucky. It just doesn't seem practical to pay for something for 2 years that I'll never get to use.

As far as the X2 goes, this thing is a beast! I played with a TB and that thing seems like a OG Droid in comparison. Some people have reported the screen is weak, I just don't see it. It looks beautiful to me. There are a few minor software flaws due to the new architecture and higher resolution but I'm confidant they'll be fixed in the first update.

I really struggle to find any drawbacks to the X2.

But you don't have to take my word for it.

Verizon says 4G in 2012 but I figure that will be in the bigger city not 40 miles out in the boonies. I am having to switch from AT&T just to get 3G. Sad I really wanted the HTC inspire.

I was also deciding between the X2 and thunderbolt. I read that I might get 4g service by the end of 2011. Besides 4g and the locked bootloader it seams the X2 is the best phone. I can't upgrade till July 21 so i am waiting to see what other phones come out. I hope to see a dual core tegra 2 with 4g by then. I think I would rather have a great phone without 4g than a mediocre phone with 4G. Also I will not deal with a phone that has poor gps locks. I went threw that before it and is very annoying. The gps in my OG Moto Droid locks instantly which is how I like it.

Also the LG Revolution is out today. It seems to compare decent with the thunderbolt. Only major differences I found was the LG had 5MP back cam versus 8MP, no kickstand (no big deal?), 16GB card supplied versus 32GB. Also the LG has an HDMI port. I don't know much about the LG otherwise. I wonder if the battery life is maybe better.

i think Dx2 will be the best phone out until the 2nd round of 4G phones.

the first dual core 4g phones will most likely have some problems(just look at bionic)

so until a round of them come out and problems are fixed then im perfectly happy with the X2. so far i cant find anything wrong. and i really dont get the big deal people make over 3g. my apps are downloaded in seconds on my X2. so faster may be nice but having them done a few seconds faster really isnt that big of a deal. 10 seconds or 5 is just not worth 100 dollars.

even my 3G tethering was not slow enough to make me regret not getting 4G. but some people just cant wait those few seconds.

i will wait for the next generation of 4G phones. solid dual core or even quad core next year.

    there is my 2 cents
