Please Help! Backlight Issues After GB Update

Hi Everyone,

New to the forum. My pro is working better since the OTA GB Update with one HUGE exception. After I unplug my phone from either plug or usb my backlight resets itself to zero! I have put a backlight icon on my phone that I can touch to activate the backlight, but sometimes I can't even see it in order to get the light on. It's a serious flaw. Does anyone have any ideas? Is this a bug with the new update?

Are you talking about the keyboard backlight? I've found that if I'm typing an email or something and the backlight goes out, I just press the power button to turn off the screen, then press it again to get the screen awake again. I don't know why, but this usually restores the keyboard backlight. And it's a kludge, no doubt about it.

I'm talking specifically about the screen. When I unplug the phone from an outlet or usb, the display sets back to zero! A real pain in the neck. As everyone knows with droids, if you can't see the screen, it's hard to get in to the settings to turn the light back on.

Pressing the power button briefly doesn't restore the screen? When I unplug my Pro the screen does a weird flashy thing before going dark. But tapping the power button always restores the screen.

I wish it did, but like I said brightness always resets to zero when phone is unplugged. This get very annoying when my phone is plugged in and somebody calls. Does anyone have a fix or app for screen backlight issues?

just today while on a call my screen went completely black could not hit any key to turn it back on, I couldn't even end the call...this has happened twice today.

As annoying as it may be, I bet if you do a factory reset it will fix your problem.

I'll have to admit it, a hard reset fixed most of my GB related issues. It is a pain though...

I agree it's ridiculous the way it is. My fix:
* I have a "Brightness Level" app
* I don't have it on auto brightness
* I have it as a desktop shortcut located on the screen so I know where it's at, when I need it.
