Problem with Microphone under normal operation

    Hi guys,

I've just imported a Pro from the states and upgraded it to 2.3.3 and have a problem where during a phone call the other party can't hear a word I say. If I shout really loudly they can just make out noise.

Now you'd assume the mic is broken right but if I blow they can hear that perfectly, if I put the phone on speaker mode they can hear perfectly and if I use voice commands the phone can understand those perfectly too.

I haven't tried downgrading back to 2.26.2 yet to see if the problem is software based but will do tonight.

I just wanted to post to see if any experts on this board had come across this problem before ?

I've wanted a tear down video and can see taking it apart isn't too taxing so if it's a hardware problem I'm happy to switch out the microphone.

Thanks for any help you can offer.

    Si

Most of the microphone problems I have heard about are usually solved by doing a factory reset. I know, not the most popular thing to have to do especially if you have installed a lot of 3rd Party apps. Other than that, you may have to resort to switching out the microphone as you suggested.

Thanks for the reply, can I just check, when you say factory reset do you mean privacy settings\Wipe Data or do you mean use an SBF file to role back?

I've tried doing the wipe data and also tried rolling right back to 2.26.2 using an SBF but the problem remains.

I'm totally bewildered on why the microphone would not work during a call but speaker phone and voice commands work.....

Settings>Wipe Data. If that didn't work then the only thing I know to do is take it back to the dealer (which you evidently can't do) or replace the microphone as you suggested. Sorry I couldn't be more help.
