Malfunctioning "C" Key

My girlfriend recently got a Droid Pro. She loves it, except occasionally when texting her "C" key on the physical keyboard will stop working altogether. The "V" key will type "C" instead, strangely.

This continues until she exits out of the message and reopens, making me believe this is a software issue and not a hardware one.

Is this common? A search didn't turn anything up and I just want to know if we should get it replaced. Or, instead, if it is just a livable software glitch that will not get worse.

I had a similar issue with the another key but it was definitely a hardware problem and VZW swapped my phone out.

First try a battery pull while its still on, then try installing a keyboard app and see if it still does it. If that doesn't work, maybe a factory reset? Worth a try since if that doesn't work, you will need to exchange. So it can't hurt.
