No Computer Connection

So, I've been reading lately and want to make the rooting jump. I hate ICS over whatever the stock was...

However, when I plug my USB in it no longer "connects". It just charges. So at this point I can't root

Any help?

What have you done so far in the rooting? I presume it connected before as you said it no longer does. Is USB Debugging still checked when you go into System Settings?

I haven't done anything with the root other then read up on it

Yes, USB Debugging box is checked

update drivers. check your phones usb port make sure the contacts are not bent up or down should be in center. mine was bent down and caused battery drain.

Make sure you're using the original USB cable that came with the phone. PC data connection doesnt work with some cables

It connects into the phone and charges just fine. It just doesn't connect/register with the computer

I bought some of these and they are cheap and work fine for PC Data connection:

Try a different PC

I had the same issue, and found out that i needed to use the stock usb cable. Aftermarket cable didn't work for me.
