I don't care. When I buy, it's for performance as I do a BLEEP ton of video work. More than you can imagine. NOTHING AMD's got will touch my 3770k, 16 gigs of 2100, and nVidia 680. I'm not interested in their budget crap. Are you really going to trade your Bionic in for a mid-range or low end phone because it's cheaper? Or are you going to go all out and buy the best phone you can get because it's got to last you 2 years?
point taken price wise they are cheaper speed wise they are inferior. Which is sad cuz they used to keep up with our beat IntelOriginally Posted by Dave12308
Droid Bioinic. Complete with Ise Kream "Sam"which thanks to the House of Bionic.
I don't mean to burst your bubble, but I can hit 3100 on my "stock" Bionic running .246 (1.2GHz) - and I can break 3200 if I turn on 2D acceleration in "Developer Options". I'd show you, but i'm running CM10 right now and can only hit ~2600 at 1.2GHz. Maybe i'll go back to my non-safe OS and take a screenshot.
Phone, i'm gonna go all out. Processor? In my case, i'm running a 6 year old Core 2 Duo anyways, which does ALL I need it to. Anything would be an upgrade for me. I have always built my PC with a) budget parts; or b) last year's "big thing". For what you do, Intel is probably best; although you could probably build one hell of a cluster with AMD stuff for the same price. I just know i'd NEVER pay over $300 for a processor alone. I simply don't make that kind of $$$ and the extra money I do have to throw around, I throw at mobile hardware.
Yes, but back when they beat Intel, their prices were actually higher. When I built my Athlon 64 3200+ system, an equivalent P4 would actually have been cheaper. But at that point, P4's were dog slow and I was messing with SLI, so an Intel system was out of the question at the time.
The danger in this case and the seed of AMD's extinction is that the general populace is moving generally away from the standard desktop computer. Mobile technology - smartphones, tablets and similar ilk these days are getting more and more common. Not to say desktops will go away by any means - but that market is getting less important and AMD will have to keep fighting Intel for a much smaller piece of the pie.
Potentially we haven't seen the end of LapDock style ideas as well. ASUS Transformer type things could also become viable middle ground where someone likes having a keyboard/mouse like a desktop with the portability of a Tablet.
Computing as we know it is changing from the model we have seen so dominant for the last 30 years.
