    Data connectivity issues

Alright, I have totally had enough with this data issue with the Bionic and Verizon. I am on my third Bionic, numerous Verizon tech support calls, numerous store visits. Now I have Verizon actually admitting there is a problem with the Bionic and they are finally willing to give me a new phone of a different model and manufacture of my choice. One hitch though..... it can not be any models that are 4G and dual core processors not even the Razr (that has the same data issue by the way). So I paid $300 3 months ago on a premium phone that doesn't work, promised updates to correct the issue and now you are willing to replace it with a sub par phone that is less then half the cost of the Bionic? Or they will allow me to have an early upgrade. So either you want me to buy a premium phone that doesn't work and replace it with something half the price or give me the opportunity for an early upgrade so I can pay another $300 for a phone. WTF?? Thanks Verizon.

Seriously debating on just leaving Verizon but if I do the early termination fees would be more then just buying another new premium phone.

How can a company continuously sell a defective product, have tech support B.S their customers, not correct the issue and lock you into a 2 year contract.
Those that bought a $200 to 300 Bionic or Razr, SUCKERS!!!

Verizon is obviously not going to correct the issue nor are they going to stop selling the defective products. Well I am not bending over and taking this one.
We as a community are very strong and we need to unite and let Big Red that enough is enough and we as paying consumers are not going to take this. If you have a Bionic or a Razr I encourage you to write letters (emails) to your States Attorney General and Better Business Bureau. Write letters to the editors of CNET http://www.cnet.com/cnet-editors/
    Engadget
Editors -- EngadgetAs well, telling them the issue in an effort to get some type of media coverage illustrating what Verizon is doing to its customers.
I am also looking into starting a Class Action Law suit against Verizon and Motorola for the continuation of selling defective products and locking consumers into a long term contract that they are breaching by not providing the services and products that they are charging for.
I am not even against protesting at the stores, or even a viral youtube video about the issue. I know all this sounds crazy but do you want to make another phone call Tech support and get feed B.S. Do you what to be locked in to a contract for a service you are not receiving. Do You???

I agree 100% that there is a serious issue with the bionic and razr....I understand your frustration....I do not have the time or money to put together a class action suit....I just want my phone to work ....so with that said I am considerating going back to a 3g phone ....Good luck in your venue and I hope you get somewhere with it...what Verizon is doing and selling is criminal.

I would just leave vzw or take a 3G phone.

Verizon's LTE network is so immature at this point that if you don't want to experience network "growing pains" it's best to just avoid it for a few years. Even if you did get a ReZound or Galaxy Nexus you'll most likely still have data drops and experience network outages.

You could try to take vzw to a small claims court, but realistically the rewards you'd reap would be very minuscule.

You can sell your Bionic for around $300 which should cover most or all of the ETF (depending on how far you are in contract), and start fresh with another carrier.

I am an Electrical Engineer and I understand the growing pains of new tech. In searching other forums I have not noticed a data connectivity issue at this level on any other phone other then the Razr which uses basically the same hardware. I am really starting to believe that the issue on the Bionic and Razr is actually a hardware problem with the radio. This would explain why its been three months with no software fix. Why?? Because software can not fix hardware issues, they can only mask them by doing tricks like resetting the processes and so fourth. Sorry but the bionic and the razr will never fully function even with ics.
Now it really is not about the money its about the principle. Verizon is committing faud on multiple levels every time they sell one of these phones or even advertise them. If I sold my Bionic to someone knowing it has a problem I can be technically sued. Plus, I find it immoral to knowingly rip some one off.

Yeah I will probably bite the bullet and buy a new phone with Verizon. But there needs to be more protections in place to protect the consumer of tech products. For example do you still want to drive a Toyota that won't stop? There are laws in place to force the auto industry to correct issues and stop selling vehicles that have major safety risks. Not to mention that there is something called the Lemon Law.

I am not looking for a pay day here either. All I want is to see some accountability. If Verizon and Motorola can not correct the issue in a timely manner they should stop selling the product and either reimburse customers or provide an equivalent replacement.
As our lives become more and more embedded in tech and we rely on it in all aspects of our lives, this problem is going to grow and will have far more implications then not being able to send an email to grandma.

Everyone on these forums *****es and complains about issues. But when there are opportunities to correct a wrong with a little effort, everyone has something better to do and just responds with some want to be witty commit.

If they allow you to early upgrade I assume you keep your bionic and buy another phone at the upgrade discount. You should be able to sell the bionic easily to get more than the amount you need to pay the price of the early upgrade. I would take that option all day long.

One little problem though, there are a ton of bionics and razrs that perform flawlessly. Mine included.

I only have one complaint about my bionic, that the camera sucks! But moto has never been known for good cameras and I wasn't expecting my PHONE to do anything but be a phone.

I am so tired of people being early adopters of a new technology and then complaining about the growing pains associated with being an early adopter.

Whether or not there are tons of them performing great really is irrelevant...the fact remains that there are many people having data connection problems with the 4g phones and getting any kind of data.

I'm just saying that it's kind of hard to say that a particular phone is defective when there are so many that work well. I do understand that there are some out there that don't work as well, but that kind of eliminates any possibility of a successful class action lawsuit.

I would love to get back at Big Red for selling me a p.o.s. Bionic.
I have been plagued with data drops. on my second one now. Got a new replacement from Motorola. no difference seen. I have spent adores of hours on the phone with VZW support. All to o avail. They finally escalated to network analysis. Promised me a Nexus replacement if my problem not solved by Monday 1/2. .VZW sucks and so does Moto.
