I am rooted (one click root) and just received the ota update but have NOT installed it. As I understand it, I will lose root if/when I install it? If I do lose root can I just "reroot"" it? Thank you!

Don't install OTA yet. I can't explain it very well but someone here will. If you install the OTA it will prevent you from rooting at the moment till someone else finds away around it. The reasons they made an OTA are to give us firmware updates fixes and to UNROOT us! So beware.

If you forever root you will retain root after the upgrade. Even if you didn't forever root you can root afterwards but it more practical to just forever root first. The 5.5.893 update had been leaked long ago and we were never stopped from rooting it.
I'm trying to install forever root now but the what the instructions say should happen, isn't. I think it has something to do with the Moto driver and my phone. ABD?
Ok, I received the update. It downloaded just fine but halfway through install it stops and says install failed. Im stock, rooted, forever rooted, uninstalled safestrap, removed titanium backup, updated all Verizon bloatware and still can't install updated. Need some help please

Weird, I just tried to install the Forever root and couldn't get it to work so I said the hell with and just installed the 893 Update. I did NOT lose root! Amazing.
I used bootstrapper to recover from a previous backup before I did the webtop hack... and voila the OTA install was successful!Quote:
i have the same issue as DAS2042... downloaded the OTA and it fails... I unfroze all my apps before hand as well... not sure what the issue is...
I used the 1 click root method from the d3 to root and I didn't lose root after I installed the ota.
