Pure Calendar Widget (Update on calendar event)

Does anyone know a little more about this option?

Is it a battery hog? I know I could test, but I figured it might be easier if someone knows.

I've had it for years with no complaints.

Do you know what it does? I assume anytime the internal calendar is updated it refreshes the widget? Does this happen if I enter an event online (like in Google Calendar on the web?)
